Scapa Technologies News Update – August 2012

What with getting our second office open and operational and training our new recruits to be able to find their way to the coffee machine (and back), it’s been another busy few weeks here at Scapa. There’s a lot in this newsletter, so we hope you find something for you. Whether it’s the latest news of the development team’s progress with the new Thin Client and VDI products, details of how our professional services team can help you save time AND money, information about upcoming events or the chance to win a bottle of Scapa malt whisky, I hope there’s something here for everyone.

Scapa TPP Development News

We‘re working hard on strengthening the robustness of Scapa TPP’s overall testing frameworks and improving test execution flexibility, at the moment. The latest changes allow tests, once started, to be disconnected from the Eclipse GUI while still collecting all relevant results data. We are now using a file-based Relational Database to store these results. It’s simple to deploy and fast, and it also allows much better integration with external systems than the existing Eclipse-specific StatCon data model. Having data available in a Relational Database gives Scapa TPP users much more flexibility in terms of report generation. The migration and enhancement of the existing reporting framework is the next thing on our to-do list as this will allow us to gradually reduce the number of Eclipse dependencies, and will result in significant improvements, making Scapa TPP much easier to use.

As some of you will already be aware, we have been doing some research into Mendix ™ systems and what would be required to test and ensure their performance. Our professional services team are now able to provide a tailored testing solution for Mendix systems – contact us to find out more – and we are aiming to have a new Scapa TPP for Mendix product by early 2013. If you have any experience in using Mendix and would like to share this with us, we would love to hear from you. We have a quick Mendix user survey or, alternatively, contact us by email, Linked In or Facebook and you’ll be entered into our prize draw with a chance to win a bottle of Scapa malt whisky. Good luck to all our entrants!

Scapa Events

Just to let you know that we’re going to this year’s Worldwide Remedy User Group event (WWRUG ’12). The event takes place in San Jose, California from 15th until 19^th October and aims to provide a forum for Remedy users to discover, learn, share and meet their peers. Scapa TPP has a unique level of connectivity to Remedy and the ITSM Suite, so we knew we needed to be there. We’re sponsoring the event and will have a booth in the sponsor’s area. If you’re going to WWRUG ’12, please drop by our booth and say hi.
