Scapa Technologies June 09 update
Welcome to this update from Scapa Technologies.
There have been a number of recent improvements to our Test and Performance Platform that we’d like to tell you about, as well as giving you a sneak preview of a new release that we have planned for later on in the year.
As ever, if you’d like any help on using the new features, or even if you are just wondering how to use Scapa for a particular task or architecture, please get in touch with us.
We’re very excited about our capability to test the latest and greatest innovations in application delivery. As well as our track record in testing thin client platforms such as Citrix Presentation Server/XenApp and Microsoft Terminal Services, we have also adapted Scapa TPP to test Virtual Desktop Infrastructure solutions, such as VMWare View, Citrix XenDesktop, Quest vWorkspace and Microsoft RemoteApp.
Unlike other testing tools, we are completely agnostic as to how you have built your environment, and have the ability to test the platform, no matter what the end user applications are, or how they are accessed, whether streamed or through a custom client. Please get in touch if you have deployed, or are considering any of these new technologies, and we’ll show you how we can help.
Also, we remain the only testing tool that can performance test BMC Remedy Service Desk and ITSM at the client and mid tier layers.
So, without further ado, here are some key updates to the current product:
- We now fully support testing Windows 2008 as well as the latest clients and brokers
- We now support testing VDI deployments from all vendors
- We’ve added an agent to pull performance stats from VMWare ESX and ESXi
- Updated version of Wintask (3.5a)
To upgrade please get in touch by emailing upgrades@scapatech.com or contact your account manager who will be more than happy to assist.
We have also been working hard on a brand new version of the Scapa Test and Performance Platform, which will launch later this year. To be one of the first to see this innovative and exciting new upgrade then please come and see us when we launch it at:
We will be at vmworld 2009, from 31st August until the 3rd September in The Moscone Centre, San Francisco. If you are attending, please stop by and say hello.
So what’s new in this major release?
As well as addressing new technologies in the marketplace, we have listened to all your valuable feedback and are incorporating as many of your suggestions as possible. Three key changes to our architecture are:
- The tool will support out of the box testing – packaged with scripts for common applications.
- A greatly simplified interface, but with the ability to drill into all of the features that you know and love
- Migrating to a web based interface
As you can imagine we are very excited about this new development. This release will strengthen our position in the Remedy, Thin Client and Virtual Desktop testing areas – competing tools cannot test the breadth of platforms that we can, and our client side measurement still delivers the most accurate results of any testing methodology.
We have plenty more planned for this release and we will be able to share more about this with you over the next few months.
We are also looking at running a series of training workshops and we would like to get an idea of numbers and areas before we set something up. If this is of interest then please get in touch and give an idea of how many attendees and what areas of interest, i.e. VDI, scripting etc.
We are also offering fixed priced engagements where we can deliver services in pre-defined manner ensuring your testing budget does not run away. We would simply agree what is required and do the rest.
Please note that we have moved offices and our new contact information is below. If you would like further information on any of the above, or would like to discuss some testing projects then please get in touch.
Many thanks

Will latest release of Scapa work with Wintask 3.6? We would like to use the debugging features Wintask 3.6 offers.
Interesting post – I’m glad I found this.
