Scapa Technologies News Update – April 2013

We are having the most unpredictable weather in Scotland at the moment. It’s supposed to be Spring, but instead we seem to be having a series of Winters, one after the other. Unpredictability is not something we are comfortable with, here at Scapa Technologies. Apart from our efforts to live more responsibly and recycle and reuse where possible, there’s really not much we can do to influence the climate. However, when it comes to predicting system behaviour, particularly regarding Thin Client, VDI and BMC Remedy and ITSM performance and user experience, that’s what we do best! This month we are very excited about our latest release of Scapa TPP for Remedy which automates the process of creating tests on the Mid-Tier to just 3 steps! Also, we discuss how testing saves you money and time and resource in our blog! And, we’ve also uncovered our top reasons for choosing Scapa TPP for Thin Client and VDI systems. Read about all of this in the newsletter and use the links to our website to find out more!

Scapa TPP Development News

Scapa TPP for Remedy – EARLY ADOPTERS REQUIRED for upcoming release!

Over the last year we have been working, with the help of our Remedy customers and partners, on Scapa TPP, our load, stress, performance and capacity planning testing tool to simplify the process of creating and executing tests against Remedy Mid Tier. We are now pleased to announce that we have a new 3 step testing process called “Capture, Process, Go”, where the individual steps require minimal or no user intervention, i.e. no further intervention in addition to the standard interaction a user would perform when using a Remedy based system. If you can use a Remedy system, then you can create a load/performance/stress/capacity planning test on that system. We are really excited about this new process, as it effectively opens up the world of Remedy testing to a broader section of the Remedy community and it makes our upcoming latest release the simplest, most cost effective solution available.

We are looking for some early adopters to help us with the final tweaks required before the new version is available for general release. Contact us if you’re interested in joining our team of early adopters experiencing this new simple and rapid, 3 steps to completion, testing process. The new software release will automatically extract relevant data from the test sequences allowing automatic test creation of the more complex scenarios (for example, incident or change creation or modification). As always with Scapa TPP, tests are created using real data and whatever version of Remedy you are running. The new release will work happily with the recently released versions of Remedy (8.1) as well as any of the earlier releases. A short video clip (entitled “Using Scapa TPP to Test BMC Remedy Systems in 3 Simple Steps”) illustrating each stage of this process is available on the Scapa Technologies website. Take a look now and see just how simple it is to test your Remedy Mid-Tier implementations.

Why Scapa TPP is best for Thin Client and VDI

We decided that we don’t do enough to express how well our software measures and analyzes the truly complex world of Thin Client and VDI systems. And so, we’ve completed a document that reveals what we believe are the TOP reasons why testing these business-critical systems with Scapa TPP is the best way to gain an understanding of their behavior and of your users’ experience. Our list is available on our website and as a downloadable pdf document from here.

You may have your own reasons to add to the ones we’ve come up with. If you do, please let us know.

We have focused on Thin Client and VDI systems in this instance, however, we are currently working on a similar document outlining why Scapa TPP is also best for BMC Remedy and ITSM environments. Keep checking our newsletters for details on when this is available.

Scapa Blog – Testing Saves You Money, Time and Resource

Our latest blog reflects upon a subject that has long been a source of debate in IT departments across the globe – how testing can save you money, time and resources. To us it’s a clear choice between a high-risk, “no testing” strategy where anything can happen and when it does it’ll most definitely cost a lot to resolve, and a low-risk, “test everything” strategy, so you know that the systems you’re implementing or upgrading, or the new hardware you’re migrating to, are right for your business. Why risk upsetting your customers and other system users by not getting it right first time and all the time?
